Batch Plant Superintendent opportunity with Traylor Bros., Inc. (TBI). TBI National Heavy Civil division provides comprehensive, cutting-edge heavy civil/underground construction services through traditional and non-traditional delivery methods. Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall Operation & Maintenance of the plant and plant staff for the coordination of activities relating to safety, quality, production, delivery and maintenance of the Concrete Batch Plant. Manage the New Lock at the Soo Project for the US Army Corps of Engineers located in Sault Ste. Marie, MI (projected to complete in 2029). Located onsite at the Construction Project site in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Material Inventory, Ordering, Tracking, Scheduling of Materials required to produce concrete (spare parts/equipment, coarse aggregates, fine aggregates, cement, slag, fly ash, admixtures, etc.). Plant production and tracking records; ensure quality production of concrete as required per specification requirements. Schedule review and forecasting of planned concrete pours to properly plan personnel, equipment and material needs to support the construction schedule. Understand project mix designs, components and testing requirements of each mix; ensure competency of target slump, air, fresh temperatures and compressive strength requirements. Coordinate delivery to the point of placement for concrete on the project site with supporting placing equipment (e.g., mixer trucks, agitator trucks, telebelts, pump trucks, cranes, bucket placements). Understand operation of all plant systems; oversee preventative and routine maintenance; track maintenance records. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and water systems of the plant; conduct conveyor, sump, screen, and electrical inspections and maintenance; manage water pump maintenance; perform greasing and lubrication. Supervise batch plant personnel including operations and maintenance staff; enforce safety guidelines (OSHA, EM-385, KAT Safety Policies). Implement preventative and routine maintenance, LOTO, confined space procedures, winterization shutdowns, and spring startup procedures for the facility; address stormwater and air quality requirements. Operate the plant within general operating and production guidelines as determined by management; oversee appearance and housekeeping of the plant and grounds area. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Experience with concrete production plant operations (specifically central mix plants). Ideal candidates would possess 5+ years of experience with major heavy civil construction projects. Experience with the Erie Liberty batching system is a plus. Experience with multi-mixer batch plants is a plus. NRMCA certification is a plus; ACI credentials are a plus. Candidate must be able to work at height and climb ladders. High School Diploma or GED equivalent; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in concert with project team, QA/QC, subcontractors, engineers, and client. Project site access requires successfully completed federal background check. Benefits
