Specimen Processing Group Lead - Indianapolis, IN - Monday-Friday 10:00AM-6:30PM (Rotational Weekends) Pay Range: $17.37+ per hour Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Responsibilities
The position assists the department supervisors by performing combinations of the following activities: Schedule coordination, general supervision of all Specimen Technicians, providing input to supervisors for performance review and disciplinary action. The Group Leader typically leads 8 - 12 employees, is involved in process and compliance audits and may be responsible for performing duties listed below. Priority consideration is given to internal candidates for this position. Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of all job duties in Specimen Processing department Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills; collaborate with technical departments to resolve problems Assist all SPTs in proper test selection and problem resolution Answer and clarify employee questions (including laboratory personnel) regarding processing Provide appropriate feedback to supervisors when problems arise Complete shift paperwork, set up for production, ensure clean-up at end of shift Monitor supply inventory, order supplies as needed Repair and maintain department equipment; notify appropriate personnel for major repairs Assist in or perform training, cross-training and department audits as assigned Perform all other duties as assigned Assist supervisor with prioritizing work assignments and monitoring production to meet deadlines Coach for improved performance and maintain a positive work environment Ensure effective employee utilization through workforce planning, including staffing weekends and holidays Suggest improvements to enhance workflow; help manage department overtime Ensure adherence to Quest Diagnostics Incorporated and Specimen Processing policies and procedures Qualifications
Required Work Experience: Internal candidates minimum of one year in SPT III/related role Preferred Work Experience:
3 years experience in a laboratory environment with Specimen Processing preferred Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory Physical And Mental Requirements:
Performs multiple tasks simultaneously and under interruptions, physical and mental stress Works in a biohazard environment and practices good safety habits Able to sit or stand for long periods Knowledge: N/A Skills:
PC skills including the ability to run reports and use to manage workflow; real-time throughput Maintains confidentiality at all times; access to employee performance data, including disciplinary actions up to termination Demonstrates leadership by example, good attendance, decision making, and keeping the team on task Strong interpersonal skills; fosters a positive environment Flexibility and adaptability Drives frequent employee interaction on the floor; provides feedback, coaching, guidance Excellent communication skills with internal and external clients Adheres to Quest Diagnostics core values, safety, and compliance policies Works under pressure to maintain productivity and quality goals Ability to diffuse tense situations and apply good judgment in problem resolution Company and Hiring Information
