Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets. Meet or exceed financial goals and objectives of the department. Directly supervise and evaluate the provision of patient care by other personnel assigned to the unit. Make daily patient rounds. Do random chart audits. Teach and mentor other nursing and ancillary personnel. Manage staff to meet established productivity targets. Review staffing/nursing assignments and revise as necessary to meet patient needs on a shift-by-shift basis. Coordinate staffing with Central Staffing Office/House Supervisor. Adjust staffing for census and patient acuity to ensure safe delivery of care. Collaborate with staff to resolve issues, advocate for patients and staff to provide safe care and safe environment. Provide coverage during staffing crises or shortages with flexibility and willingness to work shifts as needed. Offer timely coaching and counseling of nursing personnel and follow up with reports to Unit Manager and Assistant Manager, Care Coordination. Support professional growth of staff through equal participation in unit activities and continuing education. Ensure event reporting is filed by staff, investigate facts, and facilitate follow-up with Unit Manager. Notify Nurse Manager/Risk Manager of high-risk situations. Participate in patient care conferences and work with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient satisfaction and streamline discharge processes to meet time-to-discharge goals. Collect information and maintain records for performance and contributions; participate in annual performance reviews and orientation evaluations for unit staff. Coordinate self-scheduling to maintain unit coverage; maintain Kronos records and monitor for trends requiring intervention. Oversee inventory control of equipment and supplies; ensure safe patient care and timely return of borrowed equipment; solicit staff input on unit needs. Assist with staff meetings, projects, and performance improvement activities; communicate data and solicit input on performance and quality improvement (patient safety, infection control); participate in hospital work groups. Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program and BSN Experience: 3 years experience as an RN Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) approved by AHA or ARC; NLC/ Nursing Licensure Compact (-BNE) or current Texas license; NIHSS where applicable by unit standards Schedule & Employment Details
