Job Summary This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients.

Required

Education:

Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program recognized by a governmental authority, nursing board, or state licensing authority (Texas BON 217.1). Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.

Experience:

1 year of RN experience. Specialty areas may require increased experience as dictated by unit or standard of care.

Licenses & Certifications:

(NLC) Nursing Licensure Compact-BNE current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license; (BLS) Basic Life Support course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Preferred

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree BSN

Licenses & Certifications:

Professional Certification in a Nursing Organization

Job Duties

Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, considering age‑specific criteria.

Anticipates patient and family needs, integrates assessment findings into an appropriate plan of care, and utilizes critical thinking in planning and prioritizing nursing care.

Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions, documents them accurately and timely, and coordinates the interdisciplinary plan of care.

Prioritizes nursing interventions based on assessment, promptly identifies changes in condition, reports changes, and takes follow‑up action as appropriate.

Evaluates interventions and modifies care accordingly, documenting changes accurately and timely.

Adheres to hospital and department policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted nursing standards, incorporating ANA standards and the shared governance care delivery model.

Provides timely education to patients and families, documenting all education and discharge plan of care.

Welcomes, orients, and engages patients and families in care, reviews personalized care plans each shift, and uses clear, understandable language.

Advocates for resources that enhance patient safety and participates in unit/hospital initiatives and quality/safety projects.

Performs peer evaluation and maintains accountability for patient safety.

Participates in performance improvement initiatives related to patient safety, satisfaction, core measures, and infection control.

Provides professional and technical information to colleagues and students, acting as a resource when needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
