Propulsion System Simulation Engineer

— As a Propulsion System Simulation Engineer, you will support Rivian’s R1 2026/27 programs by performing detailed simulations of battery pack performance, discharge, durability, and charging behavior. You will track simulation results and next-step actions, ensuring continuity and accurate modeling while other team members focus on concurrent pack programs (R3 900V, R2 900V, R1 900V). Key Responsibilities

Conduct propulsion system simulations for R1 2026/27 battery packs, including discharge, durability, and charging behavior analysis. Track simulation results and identify next-step actions to inform testing and design decisions. Profile and manage simulation workload, ensuring smooth handover to future permanent hires for ongoing programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation results with engineering analysis, validation, and design activities. Maintain accurate documentation of simulation parameters, results, and recommended actions. Support continuous improvement of simulation workflows and modeling accuracy. Ensure simulations adhere to project timelines and engineering standards. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in battery, EV propulsion, or energy storage system simulation. Proficiency in simulation tools relevant to battery performance, durability, and charging (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent). Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data to inform engineering decisions. Excellent documentation and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration. Preferred Skills

Experience with battery pack modeling for R1 2026/27 or similar EV propulsion systems. Familiarity with multi-program simulation coordination and workload management. Knowledge of battery cell, module, and pack electrical/thermal behavior. Experience in developing workflows for DCFC, discharge profiling, or durability simulations. Ability to support handover and knowledge transfer to new team members or permanent hires. Salary Range: $120,000-$135,000 The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
