SENIOR COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE - 64000252 1
Senior community health nursing position functioning as a Registered Nurse in the health clinic and immunization clinic. Provides nursing services autonomously in health department clinics and throughout St. Lucie County which includes nursing assessments, case management, medication issuance and administration, documenting in the electronic health record and referrals to other community resources as needed. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Assistant Community Health Nursing Director. Provides services at the clinic on 5150 NW Milner Drive, PSL, FL and 1701 S 23rd St. Fort Pierce, FL. Works at each site up to 2 weeks or more per month depending on agency need or patient care requirement.
Responsibilities Provides counseling and testing on STDs, HIV and Family Planning options including birth control, pregnancy testing and counseling. Assists physicians and APRN in clinic settings, interviews clients, obtains health history, performs nursing assessments with referrals as indicated. Runs RN Protocol schedule autonomously, performs laboratory and related duties including drawing blood, interprets physician recommendations, education, case management and follow up. Conducts field investigations and drives own or agency vehicle throughout the county. Maintains vaccine adherence, education and outreach in community settings, conducts educational presentations as requested autonomously. Participates in Back-to-school summer events if needed. Maintains vaccine refrigerator logs and monitors for discrepancies. Assists with ordering and receiving supplies, maintains inventory and orders medications if needed, distributes supplies to clinic rooms as needed. Participates in nursing meetings, CHD meetings and in educational trainings. Completes required trainings. Maintains licensure and CPR certification. Performs related work as required and other added duties.
Qualifications
Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency
Current, active Florida Nursing License or a multistate license from another Compact State
Valid Florida driver’s License (position requires driving your own and/or a state vehicle to different locations)
Current CPR certification
One year of nursing experience (preferred)
Bilingual-English/Spanish or English/Creole (preferred)
