The Nurse Manager performs advanced (senior-level) nursing functions and directs the day-to-day operations in all assigned areas, ensuring quality health services and care for residents of the State Supported Living Center. The role supports HHSC’s mission and provides opportunities for professional growth within the agency. Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct and manage the daily operations and activities of the assigned area following SSLC and HHSC policies and procedures, state and federal rules and regulations, and ICF-IID standards to deliver quality health services and care. Provide clinical direction and expertise; ensure care is based on individual resident characteristics (age, developmental level, diagnoses, and specialized needs); participate in interdisciplinary teams and QA/QI activities. Supervise staff including hiring, time and leave management, training/coaching, and performing staff performance evaluations. Ensure 24/7 nursing coverage; develop and evaluate staffing plans to meet resident care needs while complying with regulatory and professional standards. Promote standards of practice aligned with the Board of Nursing, ICF-IID standards, CMS conditions of participation, TAC rules, and HHSC requirements. Support performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives; monitor nursing performance indicators and nursing documentation; participate in reviews of serious incidents as assigned. Serve as a resource on nursing practices and education; oversee QAQI initiatives and use data to identify trends and drive improvements; protect resident rights and address issues from reports and investigations. Coordinate with leadership and external stakeholders to deliver a high-quality system of care; participate in committees and partnerships with SSLC departments, residents, families, and other agencies. Maintain CPR and other emergency skills; participate in disaster response/COOP as needed. Qualifications

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas, or in a party state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact; minimum of three (3) years of RN experience in a health agency, hospital, or health-care facility required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. At least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience preferred; prior experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) preferred. Knowledge of Texas Nurse Practice Act, ICF-IID rules, TAC, CMS conditions of participation, and related regulations; ability to interpret and apply standards. Strong interpersonal, coaching, organizational, and communication skills; ability to organize, coordinate and evaluate nursing activities; proficiency with computer systems. Ability to interact effectively with individuals with IDD, their families, and staff; ability to prepare and maintain records and communicate information clearly. Additional Information

Fingerprints, background checks, pre-employment drug screen, CANRS, Nurse Aide and LEIE checks; random drug testing for all state employees. Flexibility in work hours; may require overtime, weekends, and holidays. State employees are subject to E-Verify; bring I-9 documentation on first day. Telework may be eligible per agency policies.
