Overview
Sonographer II - St Luke's Vascular Clinic at Aurora Health Care. This role involves performing general, vascular and/or cardiac ultrasound procedures and contributing to patient care and diagnostic quality. Base pay range
$40.30/hr - $60.45/hr Major Responsibilities
Proficiently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies. Accurately differentiates between normal and pathologic findings. Reviews patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders; ensures exam accuracy by comparing requisitions to orders. Positions patient and selects transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures; adjusts factors to obtain appropriate images; ensures patient safety and comfort. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures based on anatomical and diagnostic information. Identifies and labels images with patient name, MRU number, and location/position of scan. Maintains records per regulatory requirements and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system; documents billing codes for procedures performed. Identifies equipment performance issues, communicates with staff, and evaluates new products for potential future use. Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes information with medical history, and communicates findings to the physician. Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff; supports staff across the facility and system. Participates in quality improvement, patient safety or cost containment projects and supports accreditation efforts. Provides age-appropriate care according to departmental policies and procedures; demonstrates knowledge of growth and development relevant to patient age groups. Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen registered by ARDMS (required unless department leader determines not required). Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with OB/GYN registered by ARDMS (required unless department leader determines not required). Vascular Technologist (RVT) registered by ARDMS (required unless department leader determines not required). Vascular Sonography (VS) registered by ARRT (required unless department leader determines not required). Vascular Specialist (RVS) registered by CCI (required unless department leader determines not required). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by AHA (required within 6 months). Education Required
Advanced training beyond high school that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography. Experience Required
Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Proficiency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department. Ability to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings using independent judgment. Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to collaborate with staff and patients. Excellent interpersonal communication with patients and caregivers. Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques; adherence to department, facility and organization policies and protocols. Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage multiple assignments. Flexibility in schedule and adaptability to change. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday. Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs above the head; carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. Push/pull with up to 30 lbs of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with assistance. Clear speech, vision and hearing; may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards and to blood and body fluids; PPE as necessary. Operates all equipment required to perform the job.
