Biotech/Bacteriology Lab Manager

Turlock, CA Salary or Pay Range:
$69,600/yr. - $124,200/yr. Under the general direction of the faculty discipline head, supervise and manage diagnostic testing, personnel and related activities in the CAHFS Turlock Biotechnology section and the Bacteriology section related to molecular testing. Responsibilities include molecular diagnostic testing and laboratory technical support, processing samples for extraction of DNA and RNA from clinical samples, performance of nucleic-acid based detection, and maintaining documentation records in accordance with standard operating procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Advanced degree in Biology, Animal Science, or closely related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field. Advanced experience in the field of veterinary infectious diseases, bacteriology, virology, and molecular diagnostics. Experience performing complex diagnostic and assay development techniques in a high through-put testing laboratory. Demonstrated experience to provide effective management and supervision in a diagnostic or accredited facility. Experience with quality control/quality assurance and safety methods in an accredited laboratory. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive supervisory management experience in a laboratory environment. Extensive experience and technical expertise in PCR development, molecular diagnostic assays, ELISA methods and classical bacteriology. Independent thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
