Overview

Manhattan VAMC has an opening for a Clinical Psychologist in Women's Health. The psychologist will provide psychological services for women veterans in the Women\'s Health Clinic, VA New York Harbor Healthcare System, and will work in the Women\'s Health program across clinical settings including Primary Care, Emergency Department, Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Mental Health, and other specialty services. Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities (80%): provide a full range of psychological assessments and diagnoses of mental disorders for women veterans; determine appropriate treatment modalities (e.g., PCMHI, short-term psychotherapy, long-term psychotherapy, group therapy); provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment for trauma (PTSD, MST, relational trauma) and other diagnoses; offer individual, couples, and group treatments as appropriate; provide drop-in, readiness, support and psychoeducational groups; be familiar with evidence-based psychotherapies and clinical research literature; develop programming and offerings relevant to developmental and diversity needs of women veterans (age-related needs, sexual orientation, holistic health, MOVE for women, mindfulness, etc.); provide consultation to professional staff within the Women Veterans\' Health Program, Primary Care, Emergency Department, Mental Health Service, and community providers; coordinate with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, internists, mental health pharmacists, psychology staff and trainees; facilitate outreach, screening, programming and clinical services across NY Harbor Healthcare System. Administrative and Supervision (Education/Training, 10%): provide clinical supervision in areas related to women veterans\' behavioral health; supervise assessments, consults and ongoing psychotherapy cases; supervise psychology trainees in evidence-based treatments; conduct didactic trainings on women\'s issues, LGBTQI issues, diversity, and therapies; oversee coordination of services for female veterans treated by psychology trainees; monitor that trainees channel coordination properly and efficiently. Treatment Planning: develop, implement, and document psychotherapeutic treatment plans for assigned women veterans, including timely completion of clinical reminders. Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Program Eligibility

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) eligibility: enrollment and award details (amount up to $200,000; eligibility period 1–5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants may be ineligible to apply. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Requirements

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Selected applicants will be subject to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment; refusal to test will result in denial of employment. Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficiency in written and spoken English. Subject to background/security investigation. Complete online onboarding process and provide acceptable identification; REAL ID compliant IDs required after May 7, 2025. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Upon completion, employment may be terminated unless continued employment is certified as advancing the public interest. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-, PCSAS-, or CPA-accredited program; internship completed in an APA- or CPA-accredited program; licensure to practice psychology (current, unrestricted) in the United States or District of Columbia; English proficiency; post-doctoral experience compatible with the duties; knowledge of professional psychology treatments and assessment methods; ability to design and implement effective treatment strategies; ability to conduct research and review clinical literature. GS-12/GS-13 experience and knowledge, including meeting specific KSAs (knowledge of treatments, ability to provide professional advice and consultation, knowledge of clinical research, and other competencies) as described in the job posting.
