Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer Trainee Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hiring a Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer Trainee (FUVE‑T) for its Bureau of Technical Utility Services (TUS). The trainee will work with senior Fixed Utility Valuation Engineers (FUVE) and staff to develop a knowledge of state and federal regulatory policies affecting water, wastewater, and stormwater service utilities, and will learn how to review and evaluate filings submitted by fixed utilities from an engineering perspective. The trainee will also learn how to prepare written orders, reports, memos, and other documents for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop a working knowledge of regulatory policies and environment for the water, wastewater, and stormwater industry.

Review and evaluate filings submitted by fixed utilities from an engineering perspective.

Prepare written orders, reports, memos, and other documents on topics related to water, wastewater, and stormwater service.

Participate in training and meetings; travel may be required.

Schedule and Telework

Full‑time employment, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday with a 60‑minute lunch.

Position is headquartered in Harrisburg; part‑time telework is a potential feature for eligible employees who meet telework eligibility requirements.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Valuation Engineering or a related engineering discipline; or Four years of related engineering experience with a public utility or public utility regulatory agency and possession of an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Professional Engineers.

Applicants within three months of graduating may be considered to have met the educational requirement.
