Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials
Join to apply for the
Senior Electrical Engineer
role at
Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our large capital project team on the U.S. Gulf Coast. This position is part of the owner’s project team, responsible for overseeing EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) execution to ensure all electrical work meets company engineering standards and project objectives.
You’ll partner closely with EPC firms and the main automation contractor to ensure high-quality, on-time I&C deliverables. The role offers the opportunity to move between the EPC office and the project site in Baton Rouge as the project progresses from engineering through commissioning.
What You’ll Do
Provide electrical engineering expertise in high and medium voltage systems across all project phases — engineering/design, procurement, construction, and pre-commissioning.
Support project managers and construction teams by identifying and resolving deviations from standards, drawings, and codes.
Ensure the technical quality, safety, and reliability of electrical designs, installations, and commissioning activities.
Act as the primary electrical subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and EPC partners.
Monitor and evaluate EPC contractor performance to ensure quality and compliance with contractual and engineering requirements.
Participate in and review power load studies and trip hierarchy analyses, ensuring results are properly implemented in design.
Support continuous improvement of company engineering standards and ensure they’re incorporated into all project documentation.
Address and resolve electrical field issues during installation and pre-commissioning.
What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications
15+ years of electrical engineering and design experience in an EPC firm or owner’s organization, focusing on large capital projects.
Strong knowledge of power generation, distribution, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, for LV/MV and HV (138kv) systems.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Willingness to work in the Baton Rouge area and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience acting as an owner’s representative managing EPC electrical contractors.
Exposure to heavy modularization projects.
5+ years of experience in a chemical production facility, plus 10+ years as a lead electrical engineer on projects exceeding $100M.
Why This Role Stands Out
Dynamic Role:
Transition from office-based EPC oversight to hands‑on field engineering as the project advances.
Owner’s Team Exposure:
Work directly on the owner’s project team with significant technical responsibility and influence.
Impactful Work:
Contribute to large-scale capital projects that drive industrial growth and innovation.
Challenging Projects:
Engage with advanced electrical systems and technologies in a complex, high-performance environment.
