8:00am - 4:30pm, Tuesday - Saturday, five 8 hour shifts a week
The Role
Charlies Produce is looking to add an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join their team in South Seattle. We are seeking a professional who is attentive to details, on time, a team player, and willing to work hard.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Preventative maintenance / diagnosing and running repairs on a variety of equipment including tractors, trailers, lift gates, reefers, and yard goats Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure vehicle safety and performance Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate repairs R&R truck components including engine, transmissions, axles, brakes, lift gates, etc. Engine / transmission diagnosis, A/C repair, electrical – charging / starting / lighting / suspension and steering repair Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy diesel engines, machines and related systems, including lift gate hydraulics and transmissions Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed Work on and maintain refrigeration trailers and box trucks Complete required paperwork for repairs, documenting parts usage, and repair times
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
Knowledgeable in the diagnosis and repair of all makes of electronic controlled diesel engines; fleet experience is a must Mechanical and diagnostic knowledge/experience in diesel engines and refrigeration units Basic welding skills (TIG, MIG, and stick) Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently Ability to read/follow technical manuals & verbal instructions Comfortable with the use of factory scan tools Professional mechanics toolbox High school diploma or equivalent Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Skills and Experience
Cummins and Detroit Certifications Reefer maintenance experience Class A is a plus, Class B preferred
