Overview
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – Weekend Shift at Fleet Services by Cox Automotive. The shift for this position is Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 6pm. Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical/braking/cooling systems, starters/alternators, cooling components, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, braking, cooling, air conditioning, engine electronics, steering systems, transmissions, and related components. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges). Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/consider alternatives with sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections. Work with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using an iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion. Operate with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity within typical repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management and the support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve PO numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Requirements
High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience; or alternative combinations (e.g., higher degree/certification or 5 years of related experience). Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary to perform duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical if required; or provide a valid DOT medical card with sufficient validity in lieu of a physical. Must be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating regulations. Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain Driver Qualification File. Certifications
