CDOC Mental Health Counselor Social Worker/Counselor II (Arkansas Valley) – position located in Crowley County, Colorado. This posting may be used to fill future vacancies at this location. Responsibilities

Provides professional mental health services to inmates, including formal and informal mental health evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and clinical interventions. Ensures accurate Information System mental health needs levels, including Psychiatric and Developmental Disability needs level codes. Provides group, brief, and individual therapy, and crisis intervention; participates in 24-hour Mental Health On-Call Rotation. Manages emergency and non-emergency transfers for inmates with acute mental health needs. Provides clinical direction to non-clinical staff in mental health care and treatment of inmates. Ensures continuity of care by making appropriate referrals and providing necessary information and documentation for receiving units, facilities, or agencies. Documents handwritten and electronic records accurately and timely to maintain comprehensive inmate mental health records. Monitors inmate treatment, listens to inmate concerns, and provides counseling and direction. Promotes safety and security of the clinical and correctional environment through observations and contraband control. Informs supervisor of safety and security violations, attends assigned training programs (including self-defense) as required. Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy. You must attach transcripts showing your name, degree, and conferral date. Current, valid permit or license from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies as one of: Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Psychologist Candidate, or Psychologist. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or doctoral degree in mental health (counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or psychology) from CACREP/CSWE/AAMFT/COAMFTE/APA-accredited program. License eligible as LP C, LCSW, LMFT, or psychologist. Experience providing mental health treatment in a correctional environment. Required Competencies

Provide professional mental health treatment to inmates and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to participate in 24-hour on-call rotation; strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and with diverse populations. Maintain required registration/licensure; produce comprehensive clinical documentation; read and write English fluently; create accessible documents following plain language guidelines. Remain emotionally stable under pressure and handle stressful, potentially violent situations; observe safety and security considerations. Conditions of Employment
