General Medical Unit (GMU): A 37-bed cardiac/pulmonary unit and a 10-bed clinical decision unit (CDU) focused on chest pain. Neurovascular/Orthopedic Unit (NVU): A 30-bed unit that includes the Orthopedic Renewal Center, specializing in total joint replacement. Oncology/Medical/Surgical: A 37-bed unit offering care for a variety of patient types, including those recovering from various surgeries and oncology treatments. Responsibilities
Under general supervision from the unit manager/director, the unit coordinator functions as a leader and clinical liaison with staff, physicians and management, providing continuity of leadership day to day. The unit coordinator is a role model, mentor, coach and resource person to staff to ensure unit standards are maintained and to encourage a team environment. Duties may include assisting with hiring, orientation, monitoring and evaluating performance, problem solving, employee counseling, staffing, payroll and budget. The unit coordinator serves as a contact for internal and external customers and is responsible for maintaining a safe environment of care that meets quality standards and supports positive customer service. This role provides opportunity for leadership succession and requires competencies relevant to the population served. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and progressive clinical experience required; Master’s degree in Nursing preferred; previous management or formal/informal leadership experience preferred. Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan Advanced Nursing Certification preferred; department-specific requirements such as PALS, BLS, ACLS, etc. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills; demonstrated interpersonal communication and conflict-resolution abilities; ability to work as a team leader Demonstrated problem-solving ability; ability to work independently and meet deadlines; accountability for assignments Proficiency with software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and data analysis skills Fluency in spoken and written English Understanding/regulatory standards impact and physical requirements as described in the job, including potential workloads and material handling Experience with audits, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and staffing plans; ability to manage PTO and staffing changes Ability to mentor staff, provide performance feedback, and participate in governance and recruitment processes Maintains knowledge of guidelines, policies, procedures and standards Shift
