Overview
Connector of People & Purpose | Talent Acquisition Consultant | Startup & Scale-up Expert | MBA | Driving People-Centered Growth As a Manufacturing Design Engineer at ENC, you will drive the end-to-end design of the company’s manufacturing ecosystem, shaping spaces that enable efficient production, seamless flow, and long-term scalability. This role oversees the holistic planning of ENC’s facilities—including warehouses, fabrication, paint, general assembly, offices, and future phases—ensuring that every layout decision supports operational excellence and safety. You will collaborate closely with Facilities, Utilities, CapEx, EHS, Operations, and Product teams to create optimized plant layouts that align with takt time, throughput targets, and strategic growth plans. Your leadership will influence how materials, people, and information move through the factory, setting the foundation for current and future production success. Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end factory layout: adjacency planning, space modeling, and the flow of materials, people, and information across product lines. Translate takt and throughput targets into right-sized zones (inbound, kitting, supermarkets, fab, paint, GA, test, ship). Define utility drops, pit and mezzanine needs, clearances, aisle standards, and ergonomic considerations with Facilities/EHS. Phase layouts to support immediate needs and long-term expansion; drive brownfield/greenfield tradeoffs. Create and maintain master AutoCAD drawings and revision control; publish viewports for stakeholders (leadership, maintenance, safety). Run layout review cadences; capture risks, decisions, and mitigation plans with cross-functional owners. Model material flow (dock-to-line), WIP limits, and buffer strategies aligned to takt and variability to support the increased demand. Support CapEx business cases with layout options, equipment footprints, throughput calculations, and install sequences. Partner with Manufacturing Layout and Industrial Engineering teams to ensure cells, racks, and kitting conform to overall flow. Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in factory or plant layout design within high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments (such as automotive, heavy vehicle, or aerospace). Proven ownership of full-plant adjacency and flow planning across multiple departments. Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to produce construction-grade layout drawings. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and flow principles, including spaghetti diagrams, PFEP, supermarkets, kanban, and pull systems. Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to align Facilities, EHS, Operations, and Finance teams on layout and tradeoff decisions. Preferred qualifications
Advanced knowledge of PlantSim, FlexSim, or other discrete-event simulation tools. Experience in bus/coach, truck, or other complex assembly environments. Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma. Tools & Systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD is required for creating and maintaining detailed factory and layout drawings. Strong skills in MS Office applications (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint); experience with Power BI for data visualization is a plus. Familiarity with PlantSim, FlexSim, or other discrete-event simulation software is preferred. Experience using Smartsheet, Jira, or SharePoint for layout change control, documentation, and stakeholder communication is beneficial. ElDorado National California Inc.
