CNC Programmer
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation / CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of tooling and automation solutions for large-scale assembly operations, including metal cutting, machining, and welding. The successful candidate will develop and program CNC machine operations and automation systems to ensure high-quality and efficient production processes while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Read and interpret technical blueprints to ensure accurate machine setup and part production
Program CNC machines (Tube Lasers and Flatbed Lasers) according to part specifications and production schedules
Perform proper nesting to reduce material waste and maximize output
Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify product quality
Use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to validate dimensional accuracy
Implement DFM principles to improve manufacturability and reduce production inefficiencies
Meet customer production requirements while ensuring design adherence and manufacturability
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators related to cost, cycle time, and throughput
Troubleshoot CNC and automation process issues and implement effective solutions
Apply lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies in all aspects of manufacturing
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with safety regulations
Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and management
Troubleshoot programming or machining issues to prevent downtime
Follow all quality assurance and safety protocols
Support process improvements and efficiency initiatives
Assist in reviewing 3D models (preferably using SolidWorks) as needed for production planning
Support new product introductions and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure successful launch
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum 3 years of experience in CNC programming and machine operation, preferably with Tube and Flatbed Lasers
Hands-on experience with quality inspection tools and methods
Background in metal fabrication or sheet metal processing
Familiarity with nesting software for laser cutting optimization
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical design, and manufacturing tolerances
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and layouts
Strong problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis and statistical process control
Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement techniques
Organized, self-disciplined, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a commitment to quality and safety
Capable of effectively presenting technical information in both individual and group settings
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams, production staff, and leadership
Experience with lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving techniques (5 why & root cause analysis)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with hourly production employees and leadership concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates
Basic understanding of ERP systems and how engineering data impacts production
Strong work ethic, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined
Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
Solid PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred
2+ years of experience operating CNC laser machines (tube and flat preferred)
Work Environment/Conditions
General office environment with regular work on the manufacturing floor environment with exposure to laser cutting equipment, heavy materials, and welding processes
May require the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods in production areas
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by plant safety policies
