Unified Communications (UC) Engineer I - Digital Technology Services

The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Unified Communications (UC) Engineer I is responsible for analytical tasks and activities associated with the organization's voice communication infrastructure as part of the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) UC Team. The scope includes configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of telecommunications network components to provide secure, highly-available services for local and remote locations. Duties include quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components. Work is performed primarily under direct supervision and may involve handling basic issues with escalation for more complex problems.
The UC Engineer I role supports implementation and testing of UC solutions, maintains the UC infrastructure, collaborates with team members, DTS support teams and vendors, handles basic service requests, creates user guides, and participates in project activities and on-call rotations.
Responsibilities
Follows direction to assist with implementation and testing of new UC solutions and technologies.
Supports and maintains UC infrastructure including Cisco networking components, Contact Center and VoIP technologies.
Works closely with HMH team members, DTS support teams, and vendors to resolve incidents in a timely manner.
Handles basic service requests and provides training and user guides as needed.
Contributes to documentation in the Knowledge Base, SOPs, work instructions, job aids, and user guides.
Participates in project management activities as assigned.
Participates in the UC On-Call program.
Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related area; applicable technical certificate; or equivalent related work experience may be accepted.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Unified Communications/PBX user administration and data communications installation.
Hands-on experience with: Cisco IP Phones, Cisco Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Jabber, Cisco Unity Connection (CUC), Cisco IM&P, Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX) with CUCM integration, SIP/MGCP Voice Gateways, SIP Trunking, Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony, Cisco Mobile & Remote Access.
Detail oriented with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred
One or more years of prior experience in IT-related discipline.
Healthcare experience.
Licenses And Certifications Preferred
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4 Foundation certification.
