Overview

Under general supervision, performs technical work enforcing State and local building codes. Is responsible for reviewing building construction projects to determine adherence to such building codes as adopted and set forth by Town ordinance. Reports to Chief Structural Inspector. The Town of Davie has transitioned to a four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day). Hours of work are Monday through Thursday either 7:00am-5:30pm or 7:30am-6:00pm. Responsibilities

Review building construction projects to determine compliance with adopted State and local building codes. Enforce building codes under general supervision. Coordinate with the Chief Structural Inspector as required. Minimum Requirements

Graduation from an accredited High School or GED equivalent. Must meet the qualifications for Structural Inspector, as set forth by the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals pursuant to Section 104.16.3 of the Broward County Amendments to the Florida Building code. 4. List of acceptable paths to certification (as provided in the posting): 104.16.3 Certification of the Structural Inspector. Certification by BCAIB as a Standard Inspector or be a Florida Registered Architect or Florida Licensed Professional Engineer in the requested discipline. 104.16.3.1 Multiple sub-paths including HVHZ experience, BORA HVHZ exam, G.C. license, and other equivalent qualifications as specified. 104.16.3.2 Credit for Bachelor/Associate degrees toward experience requirements. 104.16.3.3 Limited Building or Residential Inspector certifications for qualified individuals with limited duties. 104.16.3.4 HVHZ experience substitution options with BORA exam. 104.16.3.5 Reinforced Unit Masonry certification within two years for certain inspectors. Essential Functions

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Possess a current Certificate of Competency as a General Contractor (Unlimited) issued by: Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board. Broward County Central Examiners Board (as a Class “A” Unlimited General Contractor) or Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board. A Florida Registered Architect or Professional Engineer. Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; driving history record may be requested. To request a copy of your Florida driving history, visit flhsmv.gov.
