will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Under supervision, the Technician may perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs. This role supports high-performance metrics and adheres to all company policies. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, and other related components. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various systems and components as listed above. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate and evaluate alternatives with sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections. Communicate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work activities, and allocate time efficiently. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks as required. Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using a company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion. Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within standard repair times when possible. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' related experience. A different combination such as any level of degree/certification beyond HS, or 5 years' related experience, may also be considered. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Must comply with DOT/FMCSA pre-employment screening and pass a DOT physical; or provide a valid DOT medical card with sufficient remaining validity in lieu of a DOT physical as described. Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority. Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Required Certifications or Obtained Within 18 Months ASE T8 (PMI) certification Preferred Certifications ASE T3 (Drivetrain) ASE T4 (Brakes) ASE T5 (Suspension) ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) ASE T7 (HVAC) ASE 608/609 certification* Skills & Abilities Understand the implications of new information for current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; capable of moderately heavy labor. Physically exert oneself for extended periods, including repetitive tasks. Communicate information concisely and effectively; engage in two-way communication with individuals and groups. Determine the tools and equipment needed for tasks.
