In the role of Electrical Engineer - Power Generation, HDR seeks engineers with experience in utility-scale power and renewable energy to support power generation design projects, including leading multiple design and engineering tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities
Have experience within the utility scale power and renewable energy industry and be capable of supporting power generation design projects including leading multiple design and engineering project or administration tasks simultaneously. Experience in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems. Interest or experience in renewables and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is very desired. Mentor junior engineers, client relationship development, and supporting marketing activities, such as proposal technical writing, fee builds, and development of work breakdown structure is desired. A level of design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems is required. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity. Protection and control design experience including setting calculations and electronic files development. Instrumentation and Controls experience, particularly with DCS and PLC systems, is a plus. Field experience, including startup and commissioning, is desired. Experience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, etc.) and DER or “microgrid” projects is highly desired. Previous experience with an engineering power consulting firm is desired. Willingness to grow into a team lead or section manager role. Knowledge and experience with three-phase electrical power, protection and control design, system grounding, physical design, and related activities such as lighting and grounding design, including instrumentation and control and life safety systems. Capable computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYMCAD, PSCAD, etc.). Conduct work sessions and project meetings, and participate in reviews at project sites with the Project Manager and other disciplines, and provide construction contract administration as needed. Develop project schematic design and the contract document phase of a project, including reviewing project documents, writing project specifications, and coordinating areas of conflict with other disciplines. Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, COs, JSAs, and incorporate changes into project documents. Conduct QA/QC on the work of other engineers, project coordinators or designers. Demonstrate an active commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng). Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector. Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
