Site Commissioning Engineer, Energy and Infrastructure Projects (Raleigh, NC) – Linxon This role supports commissioning activities for energy and infrastructure projects in Raleigh, NC. Linxon combines AtkinsRéalis and Hitachi Energy capabilities to deliver engineering, procurement, management, and construction services for large, complex AC power substations, expansions, and electrification. What you will do
Technical Contribution
Review project scopes, technical proposals, and cost estimates within assigned domain. Develop detailed procedures and method statements for testing, commissioning, and energization. Prepare and maintain commissioning plans in coordination with the project team. Provide on-site technical guidance, resolve issues, and ensure quality execution. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and forensic investigations for system failures. Collaborate with engineering teams to improve designs and conduct constructability reviews. Customer & Sales Support
Ensure technical solutions meet customer specifications and expectations. Define and negotiate equipment acceptance criteria with clients. Support final acceptance processes and documentation. Compile comprehensive testing and commissioning reports aligned with contract and industry standards. Represent commissioning in project review and client meetings. Contract Management
Monitor and manage commissioning activities per contractual obligations. Planning & Control
Ensure the commissioning team is properly staffed, trained, and equipped. Develop and update detailed commissioning schedules integrated into the project master plan. Assign tasks, define KPIs, and manage performance within the team. Prepare work plans and cost estimates for commissioning activities. Risk & Opportunity Management
Conduct risk and opportunity assessments, including variation orders and claims. Implement mitigation and response plans within the commissioning scope. Supply Chain Coordination
Work with supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of equipment, services, and suppliers for commissioning execution. Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience in commissioning of AIS and GIS substations. 3–4 years of experience leading commissioning teams and subcontractors. Strong knowledge of HV/LV schemes, protection and control systems, and SCADA/relay configuration. Familiarity with testing protocols, method statements, and diagnostic tools. Experience in troubleshooting, failure analysis, and RCA. Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. Knowledge of NERC standards and industry best practices. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Experience in EPC project environments. Conduct regular progress reviews and proactively identify contract risks. Who you are
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering Proven experience in commissioning AC and DC Metro Rail projects Extensive hands-on experience with AIS and GIS substations (400 kV and above) 3–4 years of experience leading commissioning teams 10–15 years of industry experience in similar roles Experience working with domestic and international Metro Rail and substation projects Strong communication and negotiation skills Ability to manage outsourced agencies and subcontractors Knowledge of AC/DC systems, test protocols, and method statements Expertise in troubleshooting, failure analysis, and automation/control systems Familiarity with IEC standards What we offer
