Overview
The
Senior Controls/Test Engineer
will play a critical role in supporting plant leadership to achieve business and financial goals through the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust
testing and assembly processes . This role involves leading design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, and troubleshooting of production test equipment and programs. The engineer will also serve as a
coach, mentor, and role model , helping colleagues grow technically and professionally. Key Responsibilities
Develop guidelines for the
design, selection, and validation
of test equipment, protocols, and data collection programs. Support, service, and troubleshoot test equipment and electrical systems within the plant. Develop test equipment specifications ensuring compliance with
electrical safety practices (OSHA, NFPA 70E) . Identify safety hazards, recommend remediation, and enforce a
zero-incident safety culture . Collaborate with
manufacturing, engineering, quality, suppliers, and customers
to resolve issues and optimize processes. Perform
root cause and failure analyses , teaching critical thinking and problem-solving methods to others. Guide the
capital equipment selection process
and evaluate Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs). Lead and participate in
continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizens, BPIs) , driving cost-out and efficiency improvements. Leverage advanced technology to improve the effectiveness of test and control systems. Manage projects including
scope, budget, scheduling, and cross-functional alignment
with production, quality, EHS, and vendors. Drive
sustained change management
using structured methodologies (e.g., ADKAR, MOC). Interpret and troubleshoot
electrical control, instrumentation, and protection systems . Support
Engineered-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing environments , resolving complex design and production challenges. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in
Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field . Minimum
3 years of test/controls engineering experience . Proficiency with programming/software:
Visual Basic/Studio, SQL, Microsoft applications Rockwell Software (RSLogix 5/500/5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE) NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand
Experience in
PLC and HMI programming , safety system design, and electrical testing protocols. Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications
5+ years
of controls/test engineering experience. Expertise in
root cause analysis tools
(8D, FMEA, A3s, Pareto, control charts, etc.). Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
certification. Strong knowledge of
electrical systems
at both component and integrated levels. Experience with
NFPA 70E electrical safety standards . Prior experience in an
ETO (Engineered-to-Order) manufacturing plant . Familiarity with
PROLaunch project management
methodology. Strong ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Proven ability to
mentor engineers/technicians
