The PV Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the photovoltaic (PV) array and battery energy storage system (BESS) site layouts along with solar energy modeling. They will work closely with estimating/preconstruction and other engineering and design team members to coordinate the overall design packages and requirements and then help transition the designs to the field where they will ensure the successful construction and energization of the project. Analyze solar energy projects across a range of responsibilities including meteorological data evaluation, review of RFP engineering exhibits related to PV & BESS production and design, and definition of site constraints and buildable areas for solar PV arrays. Develop PV models and apply modeling techniques; perform finance-grade solar energy resource assessment (SERA); conduct independent engineering report writing and evaluation. Analyze PV modules, inverters, and PV tracker topology; assist with design and recommendations; conduct plant design package reviews. Support estimating/preconstruction and business development; review commercial agreements including PPA and interconnection agreements. Convey results through discussions, graphics, and project documentation; perform site visits to verify construction aligns with designs; QA/QC reviews. Prioritize and multitask with minimal supervision; ensure documentation of technical data aligns with engineering best practices. This Includes, But Is Not Limited To

Collaborate with Business Development, Estimating, and Engineering to create preliminary site layouts and DC/AC single-line drawings for proposals. Provide engineering support for proposals, estimating, procurement, and construction. Perform moderate-level engineering tasks, calculations, data analysis, and studies to develop scopes of work for projects. Assess solar resources and energy output to optimize solar field size and output; review meteorological data for solar resource assessments. Estimate plant losses and quantify assessment uncertainties; assist with design and optimization of PV systems to meet project requirements and minimize cost. Present results through discussions and project documentation; understand equipment installation guidelines and review vendor drawings. Conduct detailed design and QA/QC reviews; perform site visits as needed to verify conformance with drawings and specifications. Coordinate with other disciplines, Project Managers, Directors, and Operations; maintain design records; participate in mandatory training. Maintain contacts with engineers, suppliers, and industry associations to stay current. Qualifications

About You

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field; ABET accreditation preferred. 4 to 8 years of related experience; utility-scale solar/PV experience highly preferred. Competency with solar meteorological data, solar energy modeling, and analysis of operational project data and performance. Ability to work both in-office and in the field; remote work acceptable. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Customer-focused with initiative; ability to work independently. Understanding of engineering design principles, standards, practices, and project management. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD 2D, BlueBeam, PVSyst, and related software. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Physical Demands

Outdoor work on uneven surfaces; travel up to 30% may be required. Work Environment

Climate-controlled environment majority of the time; field work in varied weather and noise environments; potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. What We Offer

Salary $113,500-$137,500/year; commensurate with experience.
