About the Role We’re seeking a Senior Solar Systems Design Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to lead the engineering and design of solar + storage systems for commercial and industrial projects. This is a high-impact role working on technically complex projects featuring cutting-edge technology, including Tesla Megapacks and advanced inverter systems.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct site walks and evaluate feasibility for PV + ESS projects.
Gather and analyze site data (electrical, structural, environmental).
Lead detailed system designs, including site plans, SLDs, conduit schedules, and interconnection packages.
Use tools like PVSyst, Helioscope, HOMER, and SAM for modeling and performance estimates.
Ensure designs meet NEC, CEC, UL, IEEE, and utility standards.
Coordinate with project managers, utilities, permitting authorities, and construction teams.
Support permitting, interconnection, and commissioning activities.
Set and refine internal CAD standards; oversee drafting workflows.
Drive continuous improvement of design templates and engineering processes.
Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience designing solar PV and energy storage systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVSyst, and one-line diagram development.
Familiarity with DC/AC coupled systems and energy storage integration (Tesla, Fluence, PCS, etc.).
Strong knowledge of NEC 690/705/706, UL 1741-SA, IEEE 1547.
Experience with IOU interconnection processes (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, etc.).
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
EIT or NABCEP certification a plus.
1+ year of team leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
