Job Title
Connected Vehicle Software Test Engineer
Overview Plan, execute, and document thermal tests for Waymo hardware components such as sensors and computers. Drive test optimization, develop DVP&R for vehicle system attributes, and maintain rigorous test documentation and reporting.
Responsibilities
Plan, set up, execute, and document component-, assembly-, and vehicle-level thermal tests for Waymo hardware components.
Align test requirements with internal process partners.
Set up test infrastructure including thermal test chambers, cooling test rigs, and instrumentation.
Perform thermal test campaigns in-house and with external partners.
Develop suggestions to optimize component or system thermal performance.
Summarize test results in comprehensive test reports.
Develop DVP&R for multiple vehicle system attributes.
Manage administrative verification and validation workstreams; define scope, planning, timing, forecasting, and risk mitigation through work management tools and weekly status report.
Translate attribute requirements into actionable test plans; generate test cycles and define corresponding test infrastructure and data acquisition strategy.
Execute attribute testing, which includes functional and reliability testing at component, system, and vehicle level.
Ensure data integrity, scrutinizing real-time and post-test results based on core engineering principles.
Prepare comprehensive test documentation; test plans, theory, test procedures, and results reporting with detailed analysis (no boilerplate templates).
Qualifications
3+ years of automotive experience in a test or product development role.
Worked in two or more of the following disciplines: vehicle cleaning systems development and testing, automotive thermal systems development and testing, automotive HVAC development and testing, automotive electronics thermal management.
Experience developing DFMEA and DVP&R.
Prior lab experience with knowledge of lab test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
Design or test experience with BEV hardware.
Professional experience as an automotive test- or field test engineer.
Proficient in data acquisition hardware and post-processing software.
Salary Range $65,000 - $105,000 a year
