Overview
Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy. TerraPower will deploy a 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR) with an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to complement solar and wind power. The plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power when operating with energy storage.
Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on the Natrium project. The role is part-time telework with in-person attendance requirements. The project location is Knoxville, TN, with relocation available on a national level for a family.
Job Summary Essential duties include reviewing pipe and piping component related calculations and material evaluations. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities
Preparation and execution of material requisitions for bulk pipe, valves and supports, and other piping components.
Preparation of pipe and piping component related calculations, minimum pipe wall thickness calculations, and material evaluations to ASME B31.1, B31.1 and other codes & standards.
Prepare, coordinate, and maintain piping and valve technical specifications, piping material class sheets/specifications and/or material requisitions, bid evaluations and award recommendations.
Perform detailed supplier bid technical evaluations and supplier document reviews. Reviews Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) for piping material applicability.
Coordinate with Supply Chain function (Buyers, Expeditors, etc.) as well as various suppliers regarding technical requirements of purchase orders. Disposition of supplier deviation requests and Request for Information (RFIs).
Disposition of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and Field Change Documents (FCDs) generated by Construction.
Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Knowledgeable of standard piping codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, IPC, etc.
Knowledge of Smart Reference Data (SRD) in the creation of Piping Specifications (Preferred).
Familiar with Smart Plant Reference Data (Preferred).
Familiar with Oracle Agile (Preferred).
