Senior Pipe Support Engineer – Bechtel Corporation Location: Knoxville, TN. Relocation: None. Telework: Full-time Office/Project.

Job Summary In this role, your duties will include locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations. Candidate should be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost‑effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required. Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment.

Major Responsibilities

Locating and designing support for various piping systems and performing associated calculations.

Be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3.

Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost‑effective design.

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.

Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment.

Evaluate and apply standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria.

Examine and analyze pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.

Participate in reviews and recommend approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements.

Participate in studies that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in plant design and piping work.

Develop and interpret design criteria and specifications for complex plant design and piping infrastructure in a global business unit.

Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas and propose solutions.

Analyze and report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and difficult coordination requirements.

Coordinate plant design engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.

Prepare or assist with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.

Monitor and check work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.

Participate in constructability reviews.

Review PD&P design scope changes as required for project management.

Endorse or prepare reports of work progress as required for project and discipline use.

Education & Experience Requirements Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge And Skills

Good knowledge of AISC and ASME B31.3 and other relevant industry codes and standards.

Prior experience using GT Strudl structural analysis program.

PE registration preferred.

Prior experience using Pipe Support Modeler software.

Previous Bechtel project experience.

Previous DoD/DOE project experience.

Must be US citizen.
