Overview
Wind Packaging Engineer at GE Vernova. The Wind Packaging Engineer will support all activities in alignment with the Wind packaging roadmap under the supervision of the Logistics Strategy Leader. The role involves executing packaging activities related to the development of written technical test protocols, reports, engineering drawings, and ensuring packaging documents are created, updated, maintained and compliant with company and transport standards. These tasks typically require quantitative methods and technical judgment to assist in developing new packaging or troubleshooting problems with existing packaging configurations. Responsibilities
Develop packaging designs/preservation and related technical documentation such as manufacturing drawings, calculation notes and transport drawings. Adapt packaging designs to modes of transport, logistic cycle, and storage conditions while respecting Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and international transport standards. Evaluate and measure packaging components and technical drawings to determine acceptability for use; maintain accurate records of test results and observations. Create and refine Standard Operating Procedures and Policies for packaging related processes and activities. Frequent communication of critical information between key internal customer groups. Provide support to Manufacturing, Operations and Sourcing to solve packaging-related problems. Use available physical and electronic resources to research technical problems and find solutions independently. Take ownership of all packaging related issues for domestic and international products. Follow daily management processes as established by the Wind packaging team. Develop and publish packaging specifications to subcontract the packaging design studies. Balance cost, quality, and transportation considerations; arbitrate between Engineering, Materials, Production, and Logistics demands. Review and validate packaging procedures issued by component suppliers. Monitor packaging quality and take corrective measures if defects are noted. Expand scope beyond existing initiatives and seek new strategic initiatives to bring value through continuous assessment of processes. Perform and/or manage special projects under the direction of the Global Packaging Leader. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical or Industrial) or Packaging Science with a minimum of 5 years of related field experience. Demonstrated packaging expertise within manufacturing operations, supply chain and new product development. Experience with international/transport/HazMat packaging requirements, packaging test methods and packaging equipment. Proficiency with CAD, Tableau, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc. Desired Characteristics
Experience in packaging, supply chain, industries, and transportation standards. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership qualities. Ability to maintain consistent quality of work under deadline pressure with attention to detail. Ability to analyze problems and apply critical thinking to implement feasible solutions. Collaborative approach and willingness to engage in an environment of active idea sharing. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Continuous improvement mindset for products, processes, and self. Technical competency across logistics, customs/duties/trade zones, manufacturing, fulfillment, sourcing, and operations. The base pay range for this position is 86,400.00 - 143,900.00 USD annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by factors including experience, education, and skill set. This position is eligible for up to 10% variable incentive compensation annually. The posting is expected to close on 12/05/2025. Geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary may apply in certain areas. Relocation assistance is provided: Yes.
