Position Summary We are seeking a Biosystems Engineer to join the Polymer and Coatings Research and Production team within the UGA New Materials Institute. The role involves developing and implementing commercial biomaterial and bioprocessing applications, with hands-on laboratory and pilot-scale work and maintenance of large-scale processing equipment. The successful candidate will collaborate with team members to apply engineering principles and biosystems techniques.
Responsibilities
Create and implement process design strategies for bioprocessing and fermentation systems. (40% of time)
Maintain bioprocessing equipment. (40% of time)
Coordinate with teammates and external contributors to enable low-cost, high-productivity research and manufacturing using developed organisms and techniques. (20% of time)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of bioprocess engineering (bioreactors, microbiology lab growth, evaluation equipment), production design and extraction/separation of synthesized products; CAD skills (Inventor, Multiphysics, and iSee simulation modeling).
Physical Demands: Hands-on manual work that may be physically exerting.
