Overview
Creighton Manning, a GAI Company, is seeking a Construction Inspection Coordinator to join our team. This position is based in the greater NY Capital Region and Lower Hudson Valley. Position: Construction Inspection Coordinator (NICET III certification, or equivalent, required) The Construction Inspection Coordinator is qualified to independently perform, test, inspect, and record project operations and communicate the process. The Coordinator must perform effectively in both field and office settings and interact with the design team with minimal supervision in all phases of construction. Office Engineer experience is preferred to interpret plans, specifications, and standards across multiple areas (heavy highway, structures, drainage, water, sewer, materials, etc.) and to justify when minor field adjustments are needed. The role requires good judgment and typically guidance only for non-standard tasks. This position is based in the Poughkeepsie/White Plains area with field visits as necessary and may be full-time or part-time based on availability.
Essential job functions
In-depth knowledge in the inspection of roadway construction, structure construction, soil and slope stabilization, traffic signals, lighting, ITS, and related areas
Report writing (APPIA & SiteManager)
Material certification
Contract and plan compliance
In-depth knowledge of standards and specifications
Assist Resident Engineers with EBO entries and reviews
Review and approve Resident Engineer daily inspection reports when required
Review/Assist Resident Engineers with monthly estimates and Change Orders
Review/Assist Resident Engineers with submittals, FA, APW, subcontractor approvals, CONR104 forms
Attend pre-construction, progress, and final walkthrough meetings and report back to Group Leader and Construction Manager(s)
Assist in setting up sub-consultant contracts (e.g., materials testing, plant testing)
Assist Resident Engineers in running Fuel and Asphalt adjustments
Create project-specific HaSP packages from a standard template
Develop Construction Management Plans and Quality Management Plans
Maintain CI staff certification log and resumes
Perform in-house field office MURK reviews
Complete project closeouts per the MURK Manual
Job requirements
Field experience and successful completion of NICET Level III testing and requirements
NYSDOT policy equivalents for NICET Level III include prior NYSDOT employment as JE/PET or a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program or approved equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in highway and bridge construction inspection or a closely related field
Current NICET Level III (or approved equivalent); familiarity with NYSDOT specifications and procedures, including MURK reporting
ACI and NETTCP Soils and Aggregate certification or NYSDOT in-house training preferred
Computer skills required; knowledge of Site Manager and/or APPIA software preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Pay and location Pay range: $50.00/hour – $60.00/hour. Pay is based on experience and qualifications. Primary office location: Poughkeepsie/White Plains, NY.
