Instrumentation Flight Test Engineer - Journeyman, T-38

This Flight Test Engineer will perform instrumentation related activities, as well as be responsible for pre-mission planning and post-mission reporting. Responsibilities may also include test plan and test card writing. Duty location is Holloman AFB, NM.
This individual is responsible for assisting with T-38 modifications for various test programs at the 586th Flight Test Squadron. The following specific duties are anticipated:
Creates, modifies, and reviews temporary modification packages for USAF aircraft and systems
Performs engineering analysis (to include electrical, mechanical, thermal, and aerodynamic) and the design of modifications
Contributes to airworthiness documentation, briefings, and engineering work
Contribute to ground test plans, flight test plans, test cards, flight test safety plans, and other similar test artifacts under the direction of a senior engineer
Schedule resources for tests and coordinate with many engineering disciplines and outside agencies to ensure successful test execution
Lead test mission briefs and execution of test as a Test Conductor or Test Director
Complete post-test mission reporting requirements

Required: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in all phases of planning, executing, and managing flight tests Experience implementing or supporting implementation of temporary modifications on test aircraft — e.g., T2 mods Experience with aircraft flight test instrumentation Experience with avionics systems, engineering product creation and analysis Experience in data analysis principles and practices as well as tools (MATLAB, Python) Maturity and professionalism to lead the execution of a flight test missions, briefings and oversee team of discipline engineers to support Flight Test Operations Work well in a team environment as well as independently Experience generating test plans, flight test mission material, post-mission, and detailed final reports Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers\' requirements and need
Qualifications Desired: Developmental Test or Operational Test experience Experience in rapid experimentation of military aircraft Experience flight test of avionics systems, weapons, live fires and releases, and sensor testing Experience in Electronic Warfare and RF/IR Countermeasures Experience in aero performance/flight envelope expansion
Education Requirements: Required - Bachelor\'s degree in a STEM field.
Clearance Requirements: Required - Secret Desired - TS with SCI eligibility and ability to attain special program.
