SJH Engineering, P.C. (SJH) is a full-service consulting engineering firm, with offices in New York, NY, Princeton, NJ, and Alpharetta, GA. We are seeking a full-time Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic team in New York, NY, and Princeton, NJ. The Bridge Engineer will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in bridge engineering, including design, inspection, rehabilitation, and/or construction support. The candidate must have experience working with transportation agencies such as MTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NJDOT, and NJTA. Responsibilities:
Serves as structural/bridge discipline lead for all aspects of design, ranging from type, size, and location studies to the development of plans, specifications, estimates, and construction support services. Serves as project engineer on various size projects. Trains, directs, and mentors junior-level engineers. Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for bridges and related transportation structures. Prepare technical reports, calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Conduct bridge inspections, load ratings, and structural evaluations per agency standards. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, contractors, and public agencies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards, including AASHTO, NYSDOT, NJDOT, and NYC Bridge Manuals. Assist in preparing proposals, scope of work, and project schedules. Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs. Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Qualifications:

Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD, LARSA, SAP2000). Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and BIM technologies is a plus. Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. Experience with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NJDOT, NJTA and/or NY State Thruway Authority, PANYNJ, and MTA preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York and/or New Jersey is a plus.
