Job Overview Join to apply for the UNIV - Project Manager - Planning, Construction & Design role at MUSC Health.

Under limited supervision, directs the planning and design of new construction and renovation projects. Coordinates the efforts of outside Architect and Engineering firms with in-house staff and customers. Responsible for administration and execution of each assigned project. Manages multiple projects each year. Performs in-house design services for select renovation and repair projects.

Job Responsibilities

Coordinate MUSC capital project scopes of work, programming, design, specification development, and construction activities with outside design professionals, regulatory agencies, contractors, Deans, Department Heads, and other key customers.

Identify design and construction problems and develop solutions in cooperation with designers and customers.

Prepare and direct the preparation of schematic, preliminary, and final drawings and specifications for select building and remodeling projects.

Contract administration: provide timely, accurate responses to contracts, review and approval of invoices, payment applications, contract amendments, and change orders.

Conduct project progress meetings with owners, contractor, and inspectors; provide project meeting reports to management and end users in a timely fashion.

Ensure design work complies with applicable building and safety codes and with agency requirements (State Engineer, MNO, CHE, DHEC, EPA, JCAHO, etc.).

Review shop drawings and submittals and perform periodic site inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree aligned to construction, building management, engineering, engineering technology, architecture or similar discipline; five years of relevant work experience, including two years in a technical supervisory capacity.

Master’s degree in construction, building management, engineering, engineering technology, architecture or similar discipline and three years of relevant experience may substitute for the five-year requirement.

Some positions require registration as a Professional Architect (SC Code 40-3-60) or as a Professional Engineer/Associate Professional Engineer (SC Code Sections 40-22-190 and 40-22-195).

Additional Requirements

Physical and safety requirements as described in the original posting, including ability to lift up to 50 lbs., ability to work in outdoor conditions, and ability to obtain/maintain a valid driver's license.

Computer literacy; ability to work overtime as required; ability to learn and use new processes and tools.
