Weeks Construction - Safety Manager - New Jersey

Location: Cranford, NJ; this position will be based out of Cranford, NJ but will be assigned to projects throughout our NE Region. One of the company’s guiding principles is “Nobody Gets Hurt.” We are seeking a safety manager who creates, supports, and audits our safety program to reinforce our commitment to safety. Responsibilities

Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work. Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level. Recommending process and product safety features to reduce employee exposure to hazards. Routinely inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct hazards and ensure safety regulation compliance. Monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coaching employees on correct behaviors. Developing environmental health and safety training materials (manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, etc.). Developing a paperwork management system to track training records for all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors. Interpreting safety regulations for the project. Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements, including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, and repertoire. Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) officials/inspectors as needed during site visits. Qualifications

Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field is preferred. Required: a minimum of 10 years / 5 years of experience on similar projects. 30-hour OSHA construction or equivalent within the last 5 years. Average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years. Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity. Exceptional organizational and time management skills; strong written and verbal communication. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; comfortable with computer-based reporting and documentation. Detail-oriented with a keen eye for identifying discrepancies. Strong work ethic; effective independently and in team environments. Able to interact professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload efficiently. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred (within the last two years).
