Position Description Reporting to the CI Manager, the CI Engineer will lead the design, development and implementation of the Continuous Improvement strategy for the facility. This role is both strategic and tactical – strategic in that the CI strategy is aligned with and a key input to achieving the overall business strategy for the organization; and tactical in that the incumbent is also the chief Lean practitioner within the facility.
The CI Engineer is responsible for leading and teaching best Lean practices and tools, including but not limited to 8 Waste identification/elimination, VS Mapping, Continuous Flow, Kanban/Pull Systems, Heijunka, 5S, Visual & Daily Management. Kaizen events will be a key vehicle for driving rapid improvement and engaging/developing the capabilities of the teams.
The CI Engineer will establish, track, and publish KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of CI activities.
Key Responsibilities
Key member in all tier board discussions to capture the actions items for the gap to meet the target KPIs with all the functions.
Coach/train shop floor associates on problem solving methodology/5S.
Develop the plan & conduct training programs on Lean tools to the shop floor associates.
Create total employee involvement culture by implementing suggestion schemes, Kaizen blitz, Kaizen workshops along with the shop floor employees.
Lead the development of short, intermediate, and long‑term Lean strategies for the facility.
Capture 16 losses on each value stream to improve the process up to the target level.
Ensure all the changes are made by the systematic lean way.
Develop and maintain current state and future state value stream maps for each value stream within the facility.
Ensure the establishment of and stakeholder commitments to meaningful and measurable targets for all Kaizen activities.
Stay up‑to‑date with developments in Continuous Improvement and Lean principles.
Weekly report out on KPIs – plan vs actual, Improvement plan for the gap.
Develop and build a culture of engagement at all levels of the business to provide a highly energized team which is flexible to meet the changing needs of the business.
Required Education & Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in industrial business administration, process management, engineering, operations, or industrial engineering.
Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
An excellent communicator with presentation and mentoring skills.
Dynamic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
