Pregis Systems New Product Development (NPD), based in Aurora, IL, is seeking a talented Test Engineer to lead test engineering efforts across a broad range of system platforms (equipment and consumables). The Test Engineer will be responsible for managing test resources, writing test plans, and execution of tests. The Test Engineer will also have responsibility over execution of consumable qualifications and specifications. This role will report to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering for Systems NPD and interface with Design Engineers and Engineering Directors.
Responsibilities
Develop & execute formalized test plans as needed on machinery, packaging consumables, and software. Ability to translate customer use cases into effective test plans – capturing common uses cases as well as corner points as appropriate. Assemble and prepare equipment for testing. Clear documentation and communication of test results. Contribute to making test protocols more efficient and effective. Manage test intake log. Perform and/or delegate testing to alternate resources (temp labor) as appropriate. Prioritize testing – clearly communicating status and timing to key stakeholders. Maintain product specifications in Pregis Enterprise Spec Management system. Ability to help with various tasks in the lab – organization of work areas on regular basis. Troubleshooting/diagnosing of equipment – ability to provide peers (other engineers) suggestions on failure modes and ways to improve – a plus! Ability to design test fixtures (SolidWorks using in-house 3D printing, prototype machining, etc.) – a plus! Make minor modifications to equipment on basic shop tools (drill press, mill, band saw, etc.) as well as fabricate wire harnesses, assemble control boxes – a plus! Experience / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field OR Associates degree in technical field. 0-1 years’ experience working in Product Development environment required (1-3 for Associates degree). Ability to analyze data, extract trends, and draw conclusions. Working knowledge and ability apply basic statistics. Experience with DFMEA & DVP&R. Experience and familiarity with formal DOE a plus. Proficiency in Excel – working knowledge of additional software packages like Minitab a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, presentation and organizational skillset required. Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis’ total compensation package. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $70,000 to $83,000 for this salaried exempt role.
