The post is a twelve month fixed term basis with the opportunity for local service development and quality improvement within the Veteran’s First Point (V1P) service. V1P Lanarkshire is a specialist service for military Veterans hosted within NHS Lanarkshire and is part of a national network of six regional bases. The service adheres to the local model and to accreditation standards set by the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services (QNVMHS). Responsibilities

Take a lead role on the clinical and strategic delivery of V1P Lanarkshire. Provide operational management of all psychological therapy and peer support worker staff within the team. Contribute to local service development and quality improvement, with opportunities for national contribution. Support service planning and policy development at local and national levels. Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications Eligibility for Registration as a Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist as per the British Psychological Society (BPS) requirements. Either: Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (including academic, research and clinical components), or Statement of equivalence by the BPS for overseas qualifications, or Chartered status via the “grandparenting” route. Experience in management or coordination of personnel delivering clinical services. Specific courses in management and leadership; experience in policy design, implementation, and service planning at local and national levels; post-qualification training in specialised psychological therapies; broad understanding of relevant professional issues. Knowledge Foundation Knowledge of classification and epidemiology related to mental health (AAMR, DSM, ICD) and general psychopathology. Understanding of legislation (Mental Health (Scotland) Act, Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act) and broader service delivery context, including social policy and human rights aspects. Extensive knowledge of common clinical issues addressed by psychologists, assessment techniques, and a range of intervention approaches (CBT, ACT, EMDR, IPT, etc.). Statistical literacy and standardised testing knowledge for assessment interpretation. Additional Qualifications Post-qualification training/CPD in Leadership; experience in leadership roles within patient/client settings; experience with Veterans; ongoing engagement with current research and national professional issues; knowledge of BPS and HCPC guidelines; up-to-date knowledge of legislation and policies related to mental health. Contract, Location and Working Pattern

Contract type: Fixed Term or Secondment – 12 months from December 2025. Part-time: 33.3 hours per week; salary pro-rata. Location: MH&LD within Houldsworth Centre, NHS Lanarkshire. Working pattern to be confirmed. How to Apply and Contact
