Surgical Technologist II - PRN - Bronson Battle Creek Location: BBC Bronson Battle Creek Responsibilities
Assist the RN Circulator, the surgeon, his or her assistants, and other medical personnel to provide efficient, safe, and comfortable care for the patient. Be directly responsible to an RN Operating Room Circulator and the OR Charge Nurse, Manager, or Unit Coordinator. Utilize specialized knowledge to assess, plan, gather equipment, prepare, and maintain the surgical field; re-evaluate and anticipate the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and the operative team as the operation progresses. Care is based on age-specific current standards of practice; maintain patient privacy and dignity at all times. Read and interpret data from equipment and computers; interpret procedure cards and assess case carts for supplies prior to procedures. Identify missing equipment or supplies and make arrangements to obtain them; anticipate physicians’ needs and support the surgical team. Perform scrub duties in multiple services (e.g., neuro and ortho) and be able to perform spinal fusions in both services. Take specialty call (cardiac, ortho, neuro) as required. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and specialized formal training from an accredited surgical technologist program or previous experience as a Surgical Tech. Surgical Technologist certification required. On-the-job orientation from a qualified OR preceptor is required. Must have the ability to read and interpret data from equipment and computers. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and provide positive customer service. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work may involve mental/visual fatigue from a wide variety of duties with frequent deadlines and periodic full attention to a computer. Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds; may assist with heavier tasks or moving equipment. Shift & Schedule
