Composites Materials and Process Engineer
Join Leidos as a Composites Materials and Process Engineer to work in our Decatur, AL production facility. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the team develop new composite materials and processes along with techniques to support the Universal Stage Adapter in support of the NASA SLS program. The Space Division at Leidos has an opening for a Composites Materials and Process Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying materials and developing, modifying, and evolving composite structure layup and bonding processes of carbon aluminum honeycomb panels. Primary Responsibilities
Identify materials and develop, modify, and evolve composite structure layup and bonding processes. Material review and selection based on program requirements. Develop processes and procedures to support large scale aerospace hardware manufacturing. Communicate and direct changes and use of materials and processes. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum 8 years of related experience in composites production and fabrication. Extensive understanding of composite fabrication processes. Able to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in large scale composite hardware.
