Overview
The Space Division at Leidos has an opening for a Composites Materials and Process Engineer to work in our Decatur, AL production facility. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the team to develop new composite materials and processes along with techniques to support the Universal Stage Adapter in support of the NASA SLS program. Responsibilities
Identify materials and develop, modify, and evolve composite structure layup and bonding processes of carbon aluminum honeycomb panels. Perform material review/selection based on program requirements and develop processes and procedures to support the standup of the processes for large scale aerospace hardware manufacturing. Communicate and direct changes and use of materials and processes. Plan, test, schedule, and manage resources. Perform trade studies, support ground support equipment development, lead selection of materials and develop processes, create test plans and procedures, and support engineering review boards. Work in an office and shop production environment; ascend/descend stairs and lift up to 50 pounds. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or closely related field. Minimum 8 years of related experience in composites production and fabrication. Extensive understanding of composite fabrication processes including structure layup, bonding, curing, cutting, and other fabrication processes. Able to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work with cross-functional teams, design engineers, analysts, manufacturing, project management and customer representatives. Excellent verbal/written communication skills and ability to work with multiple interfaces. Experience in large scale composite hardware. Other details
Pay Range: $104,650.00 - $189,175.00. The pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. This posting may remain open for a limited time.
