Senior Service Engineer

ABB . This position reports to the Service Team Leader. In this role, you will execute service work of medium to high complexity per work instructions and ABB guidelines, deliver excellent customer service, and identify opportunities in the installed base to improve system and operational performance. The Senior Service Engineer will work from Des Moines, IA with a remote work model. This role contributes to the ABB Electrification Division – Services Function. Main stakeholders are both external and internal customers. Responsibilities
Provide knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety policies at all times. Hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment in the designated area (transformers, switchgear, OCBs, circuit breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, Relays, Power Management Controls systems, and other power-related equipment and controls). Lead outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors, including project management, acting as site engineer or site project manager; perform administrative functions (technical reports, material orders, quotations, job status reports, customer reports, time sheets, expense sheets) timely and thoroughly. Plan, organize, and perform multifunctional field assignments in designated areas, directing work of other field engineers and craft labor as required, in a timely and efficient manner. Develop and expand technical knowledge, recognizing industry standards for engineering ability. Plan, prepare, and/or instruct internal and external training programs to impart field engineering and product knowledge in the area of specialization. Perform administrative functions related to the work (reports, materials, quotations, job status, time sheets, expense tracking, cost control) in a timely and thorough manner. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related engineering/field experience). Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience. Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required. Knowledge of the industrial customer base in the geographic area. Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery, including Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays, and Transformers. Experience in repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin relays, Schweitzer Relays). Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) – a plus.
