Overview Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position develops, maintains, and improves all aspects of G&W’s quality program as it relates to production operations. This includes shop floor problem solving, supplier SCAR completion, process FMEA, NCRs, Control Plans, and supplier performance ratings. The role also develops supplier & ISO auditing and PPAP process skills for career growth.
Responsibilities
Perform operational MRB (Material Review Board) walks and consolidate issue data related to quality.
Execute root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions, following problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, or Red X (addressing systemic issues based on NCR data).
Investigate first pass yield failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Develop and implement cell standard work for existing, modified, and new manufactured products.
Ensure containment activities are performed when a non-conformance is discovered to contain issues and prevent repeats.
Manage process deviations/quality alerts by issuing, implementing, reviewing, and approving while maintaining G&W quality standards.
Analyze quality data and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate on cross-functional High Impact Project teams.
Report quality issues, performance, and metrics to management and other department members as needed.
Work with supplier quality engineering to address issues found in the plant on supplied parts, including sorting and inspection.
Perform problem-solving to identify robust root causes and permanent corrective actions, and validate them.
Communicate with engineering, suppliers, material handling, incoming inspection, and operations on status of issues and process improvements.
Report FPY metrics monthly and provide weekly updates on main issues and projects.
Conduct ISO 9001-based internal audits and process audits; ensure work instructions are up to date.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
0–3 years of experience.
Ideally You Will Also Have
High energy, hands-on attitude
Plant operations or issue resolution experience preferred
PPAP, APQP, SPC, and FMEA experience
General Office Environment experience, Minitab, PC use
Basic knowledge of ERP software
Basic GD&T and metrology knowledge
The Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Light lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)
Stooping
Standing
What We Offer You Typical pay is $62,000 – $82,513 annually. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
