Quality Engineer (Manufacturing) at Summit Polymers. Summit Polymers is a leading, global supplier of automotive interior systems, including consoles, door panels, and instrument panels. The role supports product quality assurance functions, new product quality system development, customer PPAP approval, and quality support for internal and external operations. Responsibilities And Duties

New Product Development: perform quality function assignments during product design input and design output to ensure all aspects of product quality and quality tools are considered and optimized. Develop, use, and maintain Summit Polymers and APQP quality documents (PFMEA, Process Flow/Control Plan, Quality Inspection Standards, First/Last Piece Instructions, Receiving Inspection Instructions, Dock Audit Instructions, Safe Launch Instructions, etc.). Ensure quality plans comply with related statutory and regulatory requirements. Review and communicate technical drawings and information to assure product/process compliance (GD&T, DV/PV testing requirements, SC, CCs, KPI, etc.). Utilize Measurement Systems Analysis to qualify gages, fixtures, and metrology equipment as needed. Use statistical analysis to determine process normality and capability (P values, PPK, CPK, etc.). Support Corporate Supplier Quality Engineering with supplier product development, critique of drawings/tolerances, approve quality control plans, supplier PPAPs, and supplier runs at rate as needed. Manage Appearance Approval Report (AAR) process including colorant and paint suppliers, developing internal color tolerance values, and engaging with customer color harmony events. Ensure compliance with unique customer quality requirements throughout product development. Assemble PPAP information at pre-launch and post-launch changes; submit or present to customer. Access and maintain customer web-based applications used during product development. Perform and oversee safe launch containment inspections and determine corrective actions for findings. Support launch preparation activities including training, internal trials, customer runs at rate, on-site builds, Launch Readiness Reviews, and Launch Effectiveness Reviews. Provide proactive training and support to on-site quality liaisons at customer facilities for new products. Customer Product Quality Support

Develop and maintain positive relationships with external customers. Respond promptly to customer quality concerns and escalate to Quality Manager and Manufacturing management when needed. Travel to customer locations to support containment, investigation, and corrective actions for quality concerns. Analyze warranty data to apply corrective actions and conduct on-site investigations when required. Travel routinely to customer sites for proactive visits and build events. Maintain related customer web-based applications and scorecards. Internal Product & Quality Systems Support

Provide support for internal plant operations to enable production of high-quality products. Offer technical knowledge in support of manufacturing operations resolving quality concerns. Develop and perform internal Layered Process Audits and address findings with corrective actions. Participate in audits (customer, internal quality, supplier, IATF/ISO). Support continuous improvement activities to improve standardized work methods and efficiency. Use metrology equipment to qualify and calibrate products, processes, or fixtures/tools. Guide quality inspectors/technicians in their responsibilities. Provide off-hours support related to duties as required. Problem Solving

Lead and support Practical Problem Solving (PPS) to identify root causes and develop corrective actions for quality concerns. Document corrective actions on PPS A3 format and customer problem-solving formats when required. Share corrective actions with affected functions, corporate teams, sister plants, and suppliers. Education And Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related science is preferred. 3–5 years of experience in automotive quality function (or alternative to degree). ASQC CQE certification is a plus. Experience as Internal Auditor for IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 is a plus. Agreement to complete post-hire required training. Skills And Abilities

Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, customer websites). Knowledge of AIAG quality core tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, GD&T, FMEA). Problem solving methodologies (Toyota PPS, 8D, etc.). Knowledge of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 Standards. Knowledge of metrology tools and methods. Knowledge of SPC and statistical analysis (Minitab or similar). Interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of Summit Polymers and customers; able to negotiate, train, and present problem-solving results. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Wonderlic Select Assessment minimum score requirement (traditional cognitive portion score 26 or equivalent). Travel Requirements
