Seeking an Infrastructure Mainframe Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated self-starter with progressive experience managing a mainframe environment. In this role, you will apply expert knowledge of engineering principles to research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain mainframe systems and product solutions. You will also coordinate with IT and vendors on technical and non-technical issues related to mainframe hardware and software. The work involves complex assignments under limited supervision. Location: Worcester, Massachusetts

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $65 - 70 per hour

Work Hours: 8am to 5pm

Education: Bachelor's degree

Responsibilities:

Manage and administer CICS for z/OS and MQ for z/OS subsystems across multiple Sysplex and CEC environments.

Provide technical guidance to external partners and internal teams to ensure contract, SLA, and KPI goals are met.

Prototype new features and strategies for application subsystem technology.

Develop roadmaps, processes, standards, and strategies to improve monitoring, performance, resiliency, and scalability of CICS, DB2, and MQ on system z.

Collaborate with business units to incorporate business plans into capacity planning.

Conduct systems analysis, design, development, and deployment for ongoing projects to meet performance and functionality requirements cost-effectively.

Provide detailed recommendations for hardware and software selection and implementation techniques.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience with IBM Mainframe hardware (z15, z16), SAN Storage, Virtual Tape Systems.

Knowledge of mainframe system software products (Z/OS, RACF, CICS, MQ, DB2, etc.) and concepts.

Skills:

Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Self-motivated, proactive, quick learner.

Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
