The Project Superintendent (PS) will plan, coordinate, and supervise the field and/or administrative operations of projects. They will provide technical direction and have responsibility for safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work (including self-performed work) for the project(s). The PS will establish productivity goals and measure performance, and will schedule labor, materials, and equipment, including the work of subcontractors. The PS may supervise one or more field superintendents. This position includes several steps to provide progression of skill and experience. Project Superintendent I is capable of less complex projects of $20 million and under with typically 3-5 years' experience in this position. Project Superintendent II is capable of medium-scale projects of $20-$50 million in size with typically 5-10 years' experience. Key Responsibilities
Assist in the review of shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders and purchase orders. Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop the project management plan (PMP) including scope management, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety plans and risk management. Conduct weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors and prepare daily field status reports. Coordinate documentation of constructability issues, potential design conflicts and clarifications with appropriate personnel. Develop and manage the construction plan for successful execution of the work. Ensure work is executed according to contract terms and conditions in a profitable manner. Interact effectively with owners, teams and other stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and exceptional client experience. Manage field operations and be responsible for project success including profitability, safety, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction. Prepare and update the original CPM Project Schedule and keep the schedule current, using LEAN processes and Weekly Work Plans. Identify and mitigate potential claims and manage the effects of any claims that occur. Provide leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors. Develop and implement the Project Quality Management and Safety plans according to Sundt standards as part of the PMP. Ensure timely completion of punch lists and coordinate start-up and commissioning as required by the owner. Minimum Job Requirements
Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential. Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience. Thorough knowledge of construction aspects (technology, equipment, methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety. Construction project and supervision experience in similar facilities. Physical Requirements
Ability to wear personal protective equipment; e.g., steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis. May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis. May use telephone, computer systems, email, or other devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. Occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Must be able to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day. Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for the duration of a shift/work day. Safety Level
