Senior Buyer

Reports To: Operations Manager Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the procurement of materials, components, and services to support production and operations. Develop, evaluate, and negotiate supplier proposals, contracts, and pricing to ensure best value in terms of cost, quality, and delivery. Issue purchase orders, maintain accurate purchasing records, and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to forecast material requirements and align purchasing strategies. Work closely with Finance to reconcile invoices, resolve discrepancies, and provide reporting support for budgeting and cost analysis. Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers to strengthen the supply base and mitigate risks. Monitor inventory levels and usage trends; make informed purchasing decisions to optimize costs and minimize excess stock. Serve as the primary point of contact with suppliers for nonconforming material issues and coordinate corrective actions. Provide purchasing reports, metrics, and recommendations to management for decision-making. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (AS9100, ISO). Participate in cross-functional initiatives to drive continuous improvement in procurement, supplier performance, and cost savings. Contribute to the development and improvement of purchasing procedures, policies, and standards. Quality & Compliance

Ensure purchased goods and services meet established specifications and customer requirements. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality, delivery, or performance issues. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation to meet audit, compliance, and regulatory standards. Support internal and external audits related to procurement and supplier management. Experience/Education/Licenses/Certifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred). 5–7 years of progressive purchasing experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment. Experience using purchasing, inventory, or financial management systems. Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO quality standards. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired

Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills. Analytical ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and drive effective purchasing decisions. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Our engineering team has extensive experience in subsea electrical and mechanical design. Our major products are linear and rotary actuators with integrated servo controllers, battery systems and power supplies.
