Job Summary And Qualifications The Simulation Specialist is essential to facilitating medical simulation by integrating, maintaining, and operating the computer and audio–video technology, including manikins and surrounding laboratory equipment.
Major Responsibilities Quality
Monitor and ensure simulation technologies are maintained to minimize downtime.
Assess equipment failures and remedy them in a timely manner.
Contribute to the development of curriculum and educational materials for simulation training.
Interface with equipment manufacturers for troubleshooting and implement hardware and software updates as needed.
Service
Foster a service excellence culture.
Evaluate simulation technologies for improvement opportunities and communicate them to supervisors.
Operate or assist with simulators and task trainers during training sessions.
Provide consultation and orientation to instructors regarding lab procedures and equipment operation.
Work under pressure and meet deadlines reliably.
Assist with scheduling and coordination of medical simulators.
Maintain equipment and order supplies promptly.
People
Identify training needs and provide coaching to improve simulation performance.
Assist clinical educators with orientation to simulation training technology and configurations.
Growth
Contribute to strategic planning and business development within areas of responsibility.
Represent the organization positively in community and patient events.
Develop and maintain positive external relationships related to medical simulation.
Identify opportunities to support service line growth through medical simulation.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advancements in medical simulation.
Utilize expertise to meet current and future needs of simulation and technology‑based education.
Conduct tours and simulation sessions for internal and external groups.
Finance
Operate within the annual budget.
Manage department performance in accordance with established budget, including staffing, supplies and equipment.
Participate in the annual budget process and provide input on simulation equipment needs.
Manage operating expenses, including the utilization of supplies and equipment.
Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or healthcare technology preferred.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification preferred.
Familiarity with operation of personal computers preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology and audio‑visual equipment preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, & Training
Certification in Healthcare Operations Simulation preferred.
