Mission / Summary The Continuous Improvement Engineer will facilitate continuous improvement efforts throughout the mill through the development and implementation of best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction. This will be accomplished through the facilitation of structured problem-solving events using Six Sigma/Lean methodologies and principles (e.g., 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, TPM, Kaizen). This entry-level position provides technical support and leadership within the department assigned, with potential to move into supervisory roles. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

Facilitate Continuous Improvement efforts through Six Sigma/Lean methodologies.

Lead Kaizen events using Kepner Trego/Problem Analysis/Potential Problem Analysis tools.

Review daily production and quality data; analyze production and operation issues.

Implement manufacturing processes, troubleshoot process and equipment issues, and collect/analyze data.

Assist with managing trials and identifying process improvements.

Analyze process trends to recommend corrective actions to reduce variability.

Analyze weekly and monthly process trends.

Assist in the preparation and implementation of the mill Annual Improvement Plan (AIP).

Education / Knowledge

Bachelor’s Degree - Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or other engineering discipline.

Prefer 2-5 years’ work experience; pulp and paper industry preferred.

Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

SAP system knowledge, team-building skills, Union knowledge, and excellent communication skills.
